Personal Consumer Issues • Re: Outdoor Kitchen Island Equipment Suggestions

I have had a NG Napoleon built-in for about 20 years in a harsh upper midwest climate, uncovered. It works and looks pretty much brand new. It was/is one of their higher series models and I find it hard to believe spending anymore on a "better" brand would have gained me anything. I also have a ceramic kamado that while very nice, seldom gets used as the gas is so simple.

Grilling is my weakness. I have found two things to be game changers for me. One, a temperature controller for the kamado that keeps the temperature within a degree or two for 12+ hours without any babysitting at all. Two, Grillgrates brand replacement grates that can be flipped to function as a "flattop" or as better version of standard grates. I thought they were gimmicks until I took the plunge to try them. The ability to have a flat surface has been a complete game changer in so many ways.
Thanks for sharing information. I will check NG Napoleon brand. I had installed Barbeques Galore Turbo Elite in an kitchen island open to outdoors. The stainless steel was fine, however the ignitor quit working and the plates holding ceramic briquettes rusted.
